I recently joined a blog circle with other photographers called Just Us 12 Times with the intention to post a self portrait of myself with my family once every month. I’m really excited about this project because while I have a zillion great photos of my family there aren’t many photos of me with my family aside from the random camera phone pics here and there. So in the effort to prove to my children in future years that I was indeed very much a part of our family I am excited to post this family self portrait.
This month’s photo was taken on Easter, but not in the morning when everyone was fresh and dressed nicely for church. No, we were too busy getting everyone showered, clothes ironed, eating breakfast, and figuring out how to play the Pokemon card game that my son got from the Easter Bunny. Instead our family photo happened at the end of the day, just after we drove home an hour from having Easter dinner with my Mom. I had lost my voice due to a bad cold and I think that’s why my husband took pity on me when I asked if everyone would please humor me and trek to the field behind our house for a quick family portrait. The path to the field hasn’t been trimmed this year so we ducked through blackberries and poison oak with my tripod, took a few silly jumping shots and exactly one non-silly shot. None of the jumping shots turned out with my timer (will need to remember my wireless remote next time!) but at least the one normal photo I got turned out halfway decent.
So without further ado, here we are in our contented post-Easter dinner glory:
