I met 8 day old baby Brooklyn and her parents at the end of the snow storm a few weeks ago and I’m certainly glad I braved the slushy roads to do so, she was an absolute gem! She has perfect baby skin and a healthy amount of hair that sticks out adorably. She slept through the entire session, only opening her eyes briefly now and then to see what I was doing and then promptly closing them again. Newborn photo sessions are definitely high on my list of enjoyable ways to spend a morning!

I met this little cutie just before the weather turned to constant snow and rain and I’m so glad we eeked out an hour of sunshine for our session together! With kids this age it always seems to work better to take them outside rather then coop them up inside for a studio session. When we’re outdoors I can chase them around and let them interact with their environment naturally. Of course usually I don’t have the added bonus of an overly affectionate bovine to help me out!

I had a hard time narrowing down my favorites from this session because Megyn is so expressive!

The H family met me in one of my favorite spots in Salem to take photos and while it was cold, it wasn’t rainy which is all I can ask for in December. Little Finley celebrates her first birthday at the end of this month so it was really the perfect time to combine a family session with her first year photos and of course we had a few adorable Santa Baby poses thrown into the mix! Grandma tagged along for our session which was helpful. Anytime I’m doing a session with small children outside I appreciate an extra set of hands to help haul the endless amount of gear, hold my ginormous reflector, and coax happy smiles from babies. Yes, Grandmas are pretty useful to have around!

The H family was my last family session for the year. I will be taking a break from now until 2011 in order to finish all my current client’s orders and to spend time with my family during the holidays. I am booking sessions for 2012, please contact me if you are interested!

It’s the time of the year that always sneaks up on me, holiday portraits! And surprisingly enough we had pretty nice weather for our time together Thanksgiving weekend. The M family suggested a great location and did a fabulous job coordinating their outfits without going over the top matchy matchy. Since winter portraits tend to have a lot of dull colors in the background it’s always a good idea to wear some bright colors to avoid being blah. Of course this family couldn’t be blah if they tried, we had a lot of fun together and they certainly kept me on my toes! Thanks for the fun afternoon!

Little Cadence was born to be a newborn model, she’s a natural! I think she is the first newborn I’ve photographed that I didn’t get a single awake photo. I think her Mama’s idea to give her a bath and nurse her just before I arrived worked wonders because she made my job almost easy. I had a lot of fun with this session, of course it’s always a fun morning when I get to spend it working with such an adorable little bundle of joy!

3 Months Old! Monmouth, OR Baby Photographer

Photographing a three month old baby is nothing like photographing a newborn or six month old baby. In fact I usually avoid this age range because they are notoriously difficult to photograph with their wobbly heads and limited posing options. We scheduled this last minute quick session for fun on a dark Saturday morning and just as luck would have it Ryanne pushed her usual naptime back and wasn’t her usual happy baby self. While the dark clouds and grumpy baby were working against me, I’m still happy with several images from our mini session.

I am a member of a local photography group and we had the chance to practice our skills on this beautiful young lady on a lovely autumn afternoon. We couldn’t have asked for a better model, Jessica was so poised and confident! Having half a dozen cameras pointed her way for two hours didn’t seem to phase her a bit. I enjoyed the session a lot and hope to do more senior sessions in the coming year. Thanks again Jessica!

Happy Halloween! Just for fun I’m sharing some photos I took of my kids wearing their Halloween costumes a week or two ago. My daughter is Pink Batgirl and my son is Spiderman so we definitely have a super hero theme going on. I didn’t pose my kids for these, just asked them to show me what Batgirl and Spiderman look like and this is what I got. We’re working on getting Spiderman’s web throwing finger position down for tonight…it’s a work in progress. Themed photo shoots are a ton of fun, especially when they involved costumes and a little imagination!

My good friend gave birth to her third baby girl and so of course I had her over to spend some time meeting and photographing little Mia! She is a delight, absolutely perfect and has two adoring big sisters. Usually I have expecting parents book their session with me and I leave space in my calender around their due date so when they call to let me know their baby has arrived I can fit them in. Since she was a planned c section baby it was easy to schedule our time together in advance which was handy!

We hit the jackpot with two happy girls and a beautiful evening which resulted in some beautiful family portraits! We had a great time playing around in my favorite local field and even spent some time inspecting a grasshopper that joined us for a bit. I had a lot of fun with this session and can’t wait to share them all with this happy family!
