FAQ

Q. Do you require a Session Fee?

A. No! I do require a $200 session deposit prior to booking your session and the entire $200 is applied to your portrait order.

Q. Is there a minimum purchase requirement?

A. Yes, I require a $400 purchase if you choose not to purchase a Collection.

Q. Do you travel?

A. Yes!  I do charge a small travel fee for sessions that are further than 20 miles from 97338.  I have done sessions in Salem, Monmouth, Portland, Eugene, Pacific City, and several small towns in between.

Q. What is a portrait session with you like?

A. I try to keep our time together during a portrait session as fun and as stress-frees as possible.  I realize that not everyone is comfortable in front of a camera and I will do my best to help you enjoy the process and will provide you with all the direction if needed.  I will probably ask you several questions prior to your session to determine what your goals are for the session (updating the family portrait above the mantle, the yearly Christmas card photo, baby milestone, etc.) and what your taste and style is to help you plan out a wardrobe and location.

Q. What is a newborn session with you like?

A. Newborn sessions are very different from other portrait sessions in that they generally last longer (2-3 hours) and are done at baby’s pace.  I bring everything I need to your home including blankets and gender appropriate props for you to choose from.  I try to utilize natural light when possible, but will also bring lighting equipment to use if need be.  I will do most of the baby handling and posing but am happy to have parents on hand to help me out as needed.  I am also happy to include immediate family members in the session, and usually do photos with Mom and Dad and any siblings towards the end of the session.

Q. When will I get to see my photos?

A. I will schedule an ordering session with you at the end of your portrait session to be held approximately two weeks after your session.  At that time I will bring product samples and your photo gallery to view and choose from.  Please make sure that all the key decision makers are present and be prepared to make your order.

Q. Do you offer digital files?

A. Yes! I offer digital files individually up to the entire gallery of 20-30 images.  Every digital file that is purchased comes with a complimentary 4×6 reference print in addition to printing instructions (including consumer lab recommendations) and a print release.

Q. Do you have a studio?

A. I do not have a studio but I do have a portable studio set up that I use for babies and small children.  I can usually set up in a kitchen, dining room, garage, or any other space with hard flooring and adequate space.  If you are interested in a studio set up please let me know when you contact me and we can discuss what sort of look and props you are interested in using.

Q. Do you photograph events?

A. I am happy to photograph your event whether it’s a family reunion, birthday party, anniversary party, or something else entirely.  I prefer to shoot in a photojournalist style to document the event and guests and lightly edit the final images.  I charge $250/hr with a two hour minimum time commitment and provide you with all the final images (generally 40-60 an hour) on a USB drive with a print release.  I am happy to provide professional prints and/or products as well if you are interested but it is not required.

Q. How do I book a session?

A. The first step is to contact me, either through the contact form found on this site or by calling (503) 508-8046.  We will talk about what kind of session you are looking for, discuss locations, and finally choose a day and time for your session.  I require a $200 session deposit to be paid and my Online Client Contract to be signed before your session is considered officially booked.  Newborn sessions are slightly different in that I require the session deposit and Client Contract to be signed, and then I will have you contact me once your baby is born to schedule a session within the first 10 days.
