FAQ

How can I order prints or albums?

I offer prints and various products that I order from my professional labs.  I am also happy to help you to design wall art groupings and albums along with custom designed birth announcements and Christmas cards.  If you prefer to print yourself I have a list of recommended consumer labs or you can choose your own.  Every session includes a print release which allows you to print whatever size wherever you would like.

Do you travel?

Yes!  I do charge a small travel fee for sessions that are further than 50 miles from 97306.  I have done sessions in Salem, Portland, Corvallis, Eugene, Bend, Pacific City, and many small towns in between.

What is a portrait session with you like?

I try to keep our time together during a portrait session as fun and as stress-frees as possible.  I realize that not everyone is comfortable in front of a camera and I will do my best to help you enjoy the process and will provide you with all the direction if needed.  I will probably ask you several questions prior to your session to determine what your goals are for the session (updating the family portrait above the mantle, the yearly Christmas card photo, baby milestone, etc.) and what your taste and style is to help you plan out a wardrobe and location. I also come armed with games to play with younger kids to help keep them involved with the process and help keep real smiles on their faces.

What is a newborn session with you like?

Newborn sessions are very different from other portrait sessions in that they generally last longer (2-3 hours) and are done at baby’s pace.  I bring everything I need to your home including blankets and gender appropriate props for you to choose from.  I bring lighting equipment so that it doesn’t matter how much light you have available, all I need is a little bit of space.  I will do most of the baby handling and posing but am happy to have parents on hand to help me out as needed.  I am also happy to include immediate family members in the session, and usually do photos with Mom and Dad and any siblings towards the end of the session.  For lots more info check out my Newborn & Baby Session Guide

When will I get to see my photos?

Your finished gallery will be available online within two weeks of your session.

Do you offer Mini Sessions?  What are they exactly?

Yes I offer Mini Sessions several times a year, I share the dates and times with my Newsletter subscriber list first before Facebook and finally here.  Mini Sessions are short sessions that usually last about 15 minutes and include a few digital images with a print release.  They are an excellent way to test out whether I’m the right photographer for you, an economical way to update your family portrait, and a lot of fun!  These are super popular and generally book very fast. I also offer Mini Sessions for newborns and babies throughout the year.

Do you have a studio?

I do have a small studio in Salem! The studio is primarily for maternity, newborn, baby, and small children portrait sessions and isn’t set up for families. I vastly prefer to take families outside for family photos. I have a portable studio set up that I can use for newborns and babies on location.  I can usually set up in a kitchen, dining room, garage, or any other space with hard flooring and adequate space.  If you are interested in a studio set up please let me know when you contact me and we can discuss what sort of look and props you are interested in using.

Do you photograph events?

I am happy to photograph your event whether it’s a family reunion, birthday party, anniversary party, or something else entirely.  I prefer to shoot in a photojournalist style to document the event and guests and lightly edit the final images.  I charge $250/hr with a two hour minimum time commitment and provide you with all the final images (generally 40-60 an hour) on a USB drive with a print release.  I am happy to provide professional prints and/or products as well if you are interested but it is not required.

How do I book a session?

The first step is to contact me, either through the contact form found on this site or by calling (503) 508-8046.  We will talk about what kind of session you are looking for, discuss locations, and finally choose a day and time for your session.  I require a  session retainer to be paid before your session is considered officially booked.  Newborn sessions are slightly different in that I require the session retainer and then I will have you contact me once your baby is born to schedule a session within the first 10-14 days.
